I haven't really looked into new speakers yet but those would get upgraded too. From what I can tell, a lot of the features operate off of WiFi, requiring me to either use my phone as a hotspot and burn through data (even though I have unlimited that's still a lot of data use) or purchase a hotspot and keep it in my truck. I prefer the look of this one over the floating headunits, but the functionality doesn't seem as solid. But most people seem to be rather satisfied with the product itself. Also, most reviews of this display make some mention about how bad the customer service/tech support is. If I didn't need a new ACM, this is the least expensive headunit. The main issue with this model is that It plugs into the truck's ACM, so this one would require me to get my ACM replaced. Phoenix Automotive PX6 Tesla Style Vertical Screen. I've only recently found out about this brand so I'm not as confident in the quality of the system.ģ. A little more affordable than the Kenwood, and the kit appears to include everything absolutely needed for the install. Stinger Offroad Complete Stereo Replacement. But just like everyone else in 2021, I use my phone for navigation and am looking more for android auto there. From what I can tell the DMX is the same thing, except it is several hundred $ cheaper because it doesn't have built-in navigation. This unit seems to be the pacesetter among dash restyle headunits. Kenwood DNR1007XR / DMX1057XR: The most expensive one I've found, but in a previous F-150 I had a Kenwood Excelon headunit that worked pretty good. I've narrowed it down to the options below, if you have any experience with these units or recommend a different one I am interested in hearing your thoughts.ġ. I have this dash (2013 F-150 Super Crew XL 5.0 V8): I hoped it was just a fuse, but the dealership confirmed that my ACM is dead. Shortly after that, same thing, loud pop from the speaker and then my clock started blinking, and now all radio controls are non-responsive. Now your dash is empty and you can start the install.Not too long ago, I heard a loud pop in my front passenger speaker which was followed by the audio/bluetooth system turning off and back on again. Look at the plug and there will be a small tab to press and then the plugs come apart easily. Fords have plugs that release pretty easy compared to other Auto Makers. Last, take out the factory radio chassis. Now you can get at the screws holding in the radio face and lower storage pocket. Once removed you can remove the left side dash panel by prying it off gently. Now remove the instrument cluster trim piece. Next take out the two screws under the dashboard that are above the steering column and gauges. Once you remove the dash panel screw, you can remove the dash panel on the right side of the radio. You can just slide it out just enough to get out the dash panel screw on the left. There will be some tabs that you need to push in order to release the Air Bag housing smoothly. Take them out and then slide the Air Bag housing forward. You will see three silver hex head bolts holding in the air bag. First Disconnect your battery be fore proceeding. Taking apart the dash to remove the old radio is pretty straight forward and there are quite a few videos on Youtube.
